A new x64 version of the Runtu LITE 24.04 distribution, based on the Noble Numbat 24.04 LTS package base, is available. This distribution, built with debootstrap, includes a basic system and an Openbox window manager with LXDE elements. Its primary goal is to offer an Ubuntu-based system with a minimal environment and no Snap packages, thus enabling the use of the latest Linux kernel and software without increasing hardware requirements. This version does not include office software, internet applications, audio or video players, leaving the choice to the user. Key components include LightDM, Openbox, PCManFM, LXPanel, NetworkManager, Geany, xfce4-power-manager, Blueman, and Pipewire. Minimum system requirements are 2048MB RAM, x64 CPU, and 8GB HDD. Sparky 7.4, the latest update of the Sparky 7 “Orion Belt” stable line, has been released, based on Debian 12 “Bookworm”. This release includes updates to all packages from the Debian and Sparky stable repositories as of June 9, 2024. Key updates feature Linux kernels (PC: 6.1.90 LTS, ARM: 6.6.31 LTS), LibreOffice 7.4.7, KDE Plasma 5.27.5, LXQt 1.2.0, MATE 1.26, Xfce 4.18, Openbox 3.6.1, Firefox 115.11.0esr, and Thunderbird 115.11.0. The 2024-06-11 release (version 24.06) for x86_64, x86_64-rt, and i486 platforms includes an update to LMS version 8.5.3, based on the Git commit ed497b6 from June 11th, 2024. On June 7, 2024, ExTiX Deepin 24.6, based on Deepin 23 RC (latest), was released. This version uses the 6.9.3-amd64-exton kernel and includes enhancements such as the ability to run from RAM for faster performance and Google Chrome replacing the default Deepin browser. VirtualBox Guest Additions are not pre-installed, as full-screen functionality can be achieved by adjusting the screen resolution. Installation options include Refracta and Deepin Installers, with Refracta enabling the creation of custom live systems.
