Peropesis 2.2 Linux OS is released. In the new edition part of the old software was updated and a few new packages was installed. The newly installed tools are mainly intended for software development purposes. New software installed: 1. bison 3.8.2. GNU bison, is a parser generator, that generates LALR parsers. It can also generate canonical LR, IELR and GLR parsers. 2. gettext 0.22. GNU gettext is a software package, that containing tools, that commonly used for writing multilingual programs. 3. gperf 3.1. GNU gperf is a program that generates perfect hash functions for sets of key words. 4. texinfo 7.0.3. The GNU texinfo software package contains programs for writing, reading and converting info pages. Note. In the Peropesis 2.2 filesystem there is not distributed the GNU software documentation, available as info pages (/usr/share/info). 5. linux GPU drivers (drivers/gpu). These drivers are designed to serve for graphics processing units.
Sparky 7.1 "Orion Belt" is the latest quarterly update to the stable release line of Sparky 7, fully compatible with Debian 12 "Bookworm." This release includes package updates from Debian and Sparky stable repositories as of September 12, 2023, featuring Linux kernel 6.1.52. Notable software versions include LibreOffice 7.4.7, Calamares 3.2.61, KDE Plasma 5.27.5, LXQt 1.2.0, MATE 1.26, Xfce 4.18, and more. Sparky's unstable repo has been removed, and RPi imager support has been added to all ISO images for Raspberry Pi users. Various note-taking applications have been added to different desktop environments, and there's a warning about the 'os-prober' behavior regarding bootable partitions. Users of Sparky 7.0 can simply update without reinstalling. New ISO images are available for download on the Sparky website.
Univention Corporate Server 5.0-5 is the fifth point release for Univention Corporate Server (UCS) 5.0. It contains all erratas released since version 5.0-4 for bug fixes, performance improvements and security updates for Samba, Linux, OpenSSH, Bind and Python, among others. UCS 5.0-5 is available in the 'Software Update' module and can be found in our download area. In total, the new point release includes 28 security updates that we have provided since the last UCS point release, such as those for Samba, Linux, OpenSSH, Bind, and Python. We have also implemented various bug fixes in the Univention Management Console (UMC) environment and upgraded some UMC modules to the new capabilities that have been available with the UMC server since the fundamental change from UCS 5.0-4. In the future, we will be able to significantly reduce the memory consumption of UMC during operation in certain cases. Also worth mentioning is the new option of explicitly setting an empty value or deleting the value in the UMC module for the Univention Config Registry (UCR).
The Fatdog64-900 Final release, launched on September 12, 2023, marks the introduction of the 900 series based on Linux From Scratch (LFS) 11.3, a significant upgrade from the LFS 8.2 in the previous 800 series. This release includes over 2400 packages, with the possibility of more additions in the future. Users upgrading from earlier versions are advised to replace vmlinuz and initrd, but savefiles and savefolders are generally not upgradable, necessitating new ones for each release. Users transitioning from older Fatdog series (700 or 600) to 900 should consult the provided forum thread for specific notes and warnings. Zenwalk Current is the rolling release of Zenwalk GNU Linux. Current status seems stable enough for an ISO to be published, so here we go. As usual this edition provides a complete package rebuild from upstream Slackware and Zenwalk specific packages. The desktop has been updated to use latest Adwaita themes featuring a unified look for GTK4, GTK3, GTK2 and Qt applications. On application side, this release introduces Syncthing for realtime folder synchronization with any device from Linux, Android to IOS and Windows (think about it as an open source private OneDrive). The desktop is built upon the latest stable XFCE environment with the one of a kind original 'dock centric' Zenwalk layout. Flatpak package management is installed by default and ready to use. Zenwalk aims to be a best of breed media OS. Several new applications and media frameworks have been added : Navidrome Music Server, Jellyfin Media Center (just type 'netpkg jellyfin'), Lollypop Music Player, Rygel DLNA Server, ... PipeWire is the default sound system, completely replacing PulseAudio.
SysLinuxOS 12.1 brings some improvements and bug fixes. By default, it includes the latest kernel 6.4 directly from the backports repository, replacing the removed 6.3.8 version. Additionally, VMware Player 17 has been added. Other changes relate to some system icons, and further adjustments have been made in preparation for the upcoming integration of new custom repositories for SysLinuxOS. The changes apply to both versions, Gnome and Mate.
The Milky Way v0.4.3 install medium release, announced by Tobias Dausend on September 6, 2023, brings significant updates to the Hyperbola GNU/Linux-libre distribution. Manjaro 23.0 'Uranos' released. The GNOME edition has received several updates to GNOME 44 series. This includes a lot of fixes and polish when GNOME 44 originally was released in March 2023. GNOME's file chooser dialogs have only ever had a list view, which is great when you want to pick a file based on its name, but isn’t so good when picking files based on their thumbnails. Over the years, GNOME users have therefore repeatedly requested that a grid view be added to the file chooser. This has been one of the most positively received changes in our history, so we are confident that people will like it added in this release cycle. The Plasma edition comes with the latest Plasma 5.27 LTS series and KDE Gear 23.08. It brings exciting new improvements to your desktop.
