The Raspberry Pi Foundation has released an update for the Raspberry Pi OS, version 2024-07-04. This update brings numerous UI improvements and new settings, including enhanced customization options for the panel and PCManFM file manager, and the inclusion of the Labwc Wayland window-stacking compositor as an alternative to Wayfire. The raspi-config utility now supports setting keyboard options and PCIe speed, and the piwiz startup wizard allows users to enable or disable Raspberry Pi Connect. Additionally, the update includes new touchscreen support, improved systemd-inhibit for power key overrides, and various bug fixes and enhancements across multiple components. The release is powered by Linux kernel 6.6.31 LTS and includes updated versions of Chromium and Firefox.
