MX Linux 23, the latest release of the popular Linux distribution, is based on Debian GNU/Linux 12 "Bookworm" and features the long-term supported Linux 6.1 LTS kernel for both 32-bit and 64-bit systems. The AHS (Advanced Hardware Support) editions, designed for those with newer hardware, are powered by the Linux 6.4 kernel series. This release introduces several new features, including support for swapfiles in the installer, the use of PipeWire and WirePlumber for audio management, and the nala command-line APT frontend as the default backend for MX Updater. Additionally, MX Linux 23 brings UI adjustments to the installer, improvements to the MX apps, and updates to the desktop environments, such as KDE Plasma 5.27 LTS, Xfce 4.18, and Fluxbox 1.3.7. It also includes Orca screen reader and screen magnifier tools for accessibility and enables UFW as the default firewall. MX Linux 23 can be downloaded from the official website, and existing MX Linux 21 users can follow upgrade instructions provided by the developers.
