The AlmaLinux OS Foundation is announcing the general availability of AlmaLinux OS 9.5, code-named 'Teal Serval'. AlmaLinux 9.5 aims to improve performance, development tooling, and security. Updated module streams offer better support for web applications. New versions of compilers provide access to the latest features and optimizations that improve performance and enable better code generation. The release also introduces improvements to system performance monitoring, visualization, and system performance data collecting. Security updates are directed at strengthening cryptography, while SELinux policies enforce stricter access controls. Additionally, crypto-policies offer stronger encryption, improving the overall security of the system.

The development team is pleased to announce the release of the new version of the operating system based on Kubuntu 24.04.1 LTS. After months of development and testing, the new version of Linuxfx is available for download, codenamed “Winux” or “Windows Theme Over Linux”. This release brings the latest technology available to the Long Term Support (LTS) release. Windows 10 and Windows 11 themes are now unified in the same image and selectable in the control panel, kernel 6.8 LTS is available to support newer hardware, Microsoft’s OneDrive and Copilot are available natively, Wine 9.20 guarantees a Enhanced support for Windows applications, Active Directory compatibility, Android emulation with graphics acceleration and Google Play support, and an interface with graphics and settings screens heavily based on Microsoft Windows are also available in this new version. Q4OS has released the 5.7 Aquarius LTS update, incorporating the latest Debian Bookworm 12.8 base, an updated stable Debian kernel, and essential security and bug fixes. This release includes Q4OS-specific enhancements and a cumulative update of changes from the previous stable version. New installation media are available on the Q4OS website, and existing users will receive the updates automatically through the system's update process.
Both BlueSky and Mastodon available via the bluestar repository for anyone who needs them (bluesky, mastodon). Both are part of the Fediverse, but because of the Twitter connection through Jack Dorsey, who is also responsible for BlueSky, I'll probably be including bluesky in future releases. I'll watch mastodon downloads, and if it's more popular I'll switch them out, or include mastodon in desktop/deskpro/developer (it is a more solid/mature piece of software, but it won't do you much good if it's not what you use).
