Version 7.4 is a 'milestone' release, consolidating EasyOS as supporting 'legacy' software architectures, including Xlibre X.Org server and GTK2-ng. We are committing to ongoing support, updating and enhancing, of GTK2-based applications, including ROX-Filer, that has undergone many fixes and improvements, such as memory-leak fix, back-forward history buttons, and video thumbnails. We continue to refine and improve the inbuilt package collection, as usual including the 'kitchen sink'. For example, we have replaced the Celluloid media player, which has been troublesome, with SMPlayer and VIDplay (a chromium-based video player). Other refinements include replacing StreamTuner2 Internet radio player with YRadio. Having the "kitchen sink" builtin means that we want to have applications builtin to satisfy 99% of users. One niche area is a simple database application; this gap is now filled by Symphytum. Lots of utility applications have been fixed and improved, including EasyCast screen recorder, DropboxGUI dropbox.com file manager, improved optical drive handling and fixes for pBurn CD/DVD burner app. The list goes on.
Based on NixOS 26.05, Quasar delivers a major update to the GLF OS ecosystem with a modernized software stack, new gaming features, numerous fixes, and several improvements aimed at content creators. GLF OS Quasar introduces a refreshed visual identity with brand-new exclusive wallpapers for both light and dark editions. ROCm support has been added to improve compatibility between DaVinci Resolve and AMD RDNA graphics cards. Quasar further strengthens system security with Dirty Frag mitigations, Copy Fail protection, Improved suspend, resume and hibernation handling for NVIDIA systems. Significant changes: py3-setuptools has been upgraded to 82.0.0, which removed the deprecated pkg_resources module, projects that still depend on it will no longer work and should migrate to its successors; the qemu-binfmt service from qemu-openrc is deprecated in favor of binfmt.d config files from user mode qemu packages combined with the binfmt service; the installer (setup-alpine) now supports the Limine boot loader and has gained IPv6 support; the COSMIC desktop environment by System76 is now available in the community repository; GTK+ 3.0 has been moved from main to the community repository; additional GTK+ 2 and Qt 5 packages have been removed as part of ongoing deprecation efforts, libsoup 2 has also been removed.

This release presents the new versions 4:24.2.7-0ubuntu0.24.04.5 of the Office Suite LibreOffice and 148.0.7778.215-1 of the web browser Google-Chrome-Stable. SysLinuxOS 13.2 is a substantial revision of how the system handles storage, backups, recovery and boot. The release introduces Btrfs as the default filesystem and builds an integrated snapshot, rollback and backup layer on top of it. All of these capabilities are preconfigured and active from the first boot, with no additional setup required. New installations use Btrfs with the standard @ subvolume for root and @home for home. Calamares performs the partitioning and subvolume layout automatically during guided installation, with no manual configuration. Btrfs enables capabilities that are not available on ext4 - instant snapshots, full system rollback, and native incremental backups. In SysLinuxOS 13.2 these features are integrated and preconfigured out of the box. As soon as SysLinuxOS 13.2 is installed, Snapper is configured and active. The following operations are automatic: a baseline snapshot is created at the end of the installation, providing a clean reference point; each apt install, upgrade or remove operation creates a pre/post snapshot pair....

This T2/Linux release continues to polish our flagship KDE Plasma Desktop integration, now with out-of-the-box Flatpak and Discover app store and support for more RISC architectures. For the first time, a consistently, fully reproducible, cross-compiled modern Wayland-based KDE Plasma experience is also delivered not only on x86-64 and ARM64 glibc, but also on Musl LLVM/Clang based builds and more RISC machines, such as DEC Alpha, Sgi MIPS64! Support for latest ARM64 and RISCV64 SoCs with Mesa Panfrost and PowerVR graphic support was significantly improved, too.
