Thanks to the hard work from our contributors, Lubuntu 26.10 has been released. With the code name 'Stonking Stingray', Lubuntu 26.10 is the 31st release of Lubuntu, the 17th release of Lubuntu with LXQt as the default desktop environment. ... LXQt 2.4 is now shipped by default. While our default display server for desktop sessions is still X11, an experimental Wayland session is now available out of the box. It uses the Miriway Wayland compositor. To try it out, click the 'Session' drop-down in the upper-left corner of the login screen, and select 'Lubuntu (Wayland)'. Note that there are no plans to drop X11 support in Lubuntu at the moment. Lubuntu releases wouldn't be proper if they didn't come with new artwork, and 26.10 is no exception. A combination of a handcrafted stencil, carefully crafted vector graphics, fractal designs, and a heavy dose of 'tweak it in GIMP until it looks right' were used to make this release's wallpaper and login screen.
