The AlmaLinux 8.6 contains web console enhancements and some brand new System Roles that make system administration simpler. Security updates include upstream versions for the SCAP Security Guide, OpenSCAP and other packages among other improvements.
On May 11, 2022, we released version 8.6 of the EuroLinux operating system. It is compatible with the latest upstream release. With this release we focused on the support for modern software security technologies such as OpenSSL 3.0, verification of the versions of installed SELinux policies and updated hashing algorithms. New PHP and Perl versions have been added. The system was also enhanced by a secure version of log4j. Popular C/C++, Go and Rust compiler collections have been updated. The real-time Linux kernel test suite - rteval - has received the ability to specify a threshold value in microseconds. Options' names in Samba binaries have been standardized to provide a more consistent user interface. The changes will also satisfy the people who work with deep learning and deep neural networks - the OpenCV package in EuroLinux 8.6 now ships the dnn and text modules.
Fedora Linux 36 includes the latest release of Ansible. Ansible 5 splits the 'engine' into an ansible-core package and collections packages. This makes maintenance easier and allows you to download only the collections you need. See the Ansible 5 Porting Guide to learn how to update your playbooks. Beginning in Fedora Server 36, Cockpit provides a module for provisioning and ongoing administration of NFS and Samba shares. This allows administrators to manage network file shares through the Cockpit web interface used to configure other server attributes.
An update to Q4OS 4 Gemini LTS has been released. The new 4.8 series receives the recent Debian Bullseye 11.3 update, updated Debian stable kernel and important security and bug fixes. This update brings along significant Q4OS specific improvements, fixes and a cumulative upgrade covering all the changes from the previous stable Gemini release. Among other improvements, localization and languages support API library for the Desktop profiler as well as for other Q4OS tools has been rewritten and vastly improved, Setup tool gets polished and installation process has been more secured.
After a long development phase I am happy to announce the release of OpenMediaVault 6 (Shaitan). A big thank you goes to all translators, forum moderators and bug reporters for their contributions and support. The main new features of OpenMediaVault 6: based on Debian 11 'Bullseye'; completely new user interface written from scratch; added some new plugins that are based on containers - these are S3, OwnTone, PhotoPrism, WeTTY, FileBrowser, Onedrive (please note that not all platforms are supported because the upstream base containers are only available for specific CPU architectures); enhanced ISO installer; ensure that /media is unmounted to allow installation to USB devices - this will allow the installation from USB to USB device; /dev/disk/by-label filesystem device files are not supported any more because they are not unique and predictable.
We are especially proud to present you Tails 5.0, the first version of Tails based on Debian 11 (Bullseye). It brings new versions of a lot of the software included in Tails and new OpenPGP tools. We added Kleopatra to replace the OpenPGP Applet and the Password and Keys utility, also known as Seahorse. The OpenPGP Applet was not actively developped anymore and was complicated for us to keep in Tails. The Password and Keys utility was also poorly maintained and Tails users suffered from too many of its issues until now. Kleopatra provides equivalent features in a single tool and is more actively developed.
The latest version of ExTiX is 22.5 which is based on Ubuntu 22.04, a long-term support release.
Zephix v5 (Zephix-5R-20220430-x86_64) was released. Updated Syslinux and GRUB boot logos to reflect more the Zephix theme; Added a toram boot option - Zephix can now be loaded totally in memory (if enough RAM is available); Changed default console font; Included the desktop and firmware modules by default in the ISO to make it more usable - this decision was taken thanks to the feedback received from various users.
With the release of KDE Gear 22.04, some nice new features and enhancements are introduced. Konsole's completely new feature is Quick Commands: open a quick commands pane from Plugins -> Show Quick Commands and you will be able to create short scripts you use frequently, Konsole's SSH plugin has been further enhanced and you can assign different visual profiles. For Kdenlive, two new options stick out: you can create customized profiles so that your rendered movie adapts perfectly to your needs, and you can also render by zones, using the guides you set up on the timeline as references. Okular now alerts you immediately when you go to sign a document but have no valid digital certificates.

The GNOME 42 desktop coupled with the Xfce 4.16 desktop has been finally realized, producing 2 unified GNOME and Xfce systems, light, fast, modern, fluid, secure and efficient in a hybrid environment for PC and Tablet. The 2 desktops are quite distinct and their respective applications are for the most part seamless, for one or the other environment. This version is based on Linux kernel 5.15 and Ubuntu distribution Jammy Jellyfish. 22.04 is a 5-year LTS - long-term support - release for updates until July 2027 for Gnome and Xfce.
